On the way. 200-300 bodies are burned every day in Varanasi and all through the day, corpses are carried through the city's narrow streets. To Hindus, death is a mixture of sorrow and joy. Sorrow because of the loss of a loved one and joy because of the opportunty to escape the endless cycle of reincarnation. Here, one of the relatives of Lalli Devi cheers as her body is carried to Manikarnika Ghat, the largest burning place in Varanasi.
